Enterprise Programme for UK teenagers
What is the Enterprise Programme for UK teenagers?
This programme adapts our successful international programmes specifically for UK teenagers, particularly those facing disadvantage. We have developed a hybrid programme for Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 10 students) based on learning from our proven international programmes and consultations with teachers, youth group leaders and young people in the UK.
"“I think everything has helped me develop different skills, confidence, resilience, and collaboration. It's all coming together.” - Laila, Year 10 participant
The programme is designed to assist UK teenagers to develop skills and qualities to realise their talents and prepare for work. In this new programme we combine in-person workshops, virtual drop-in "clinics" for guidance; fun, self-directed learning and real-world activities via an App; a peer community for support and inspiration; and a Dragon’s Den event with prizes to add competitive fun.
The programme will lead teenagers through a learning journey - they will identify needs and opportunities in their community, develop their own business idea that meets those needs, prepare a business plan and launch a real business selling real products or services to a real market.
Our structured experiential learning programme has been developed in line with GCSE specifications covering Business activity, Influences on business, Business operations, Finance and Marketing.
We offer a flexible timetable to schools and the programme may also count towards students' Duke of Edinburgh's Award Skills/Volunteering/Physical section. (Please check with your D of E Leader).
“This programme provides critical links to our Business curriculum while giving our students a chance to build their confidence as young entrepreneurs. It gives our students a chance to spot problems and wear their thinking caps to come up with creative and practical solutions. Activities are well planned, engaging and challenging. Students enjoy these activities. Through this programme our students have developed key soft skills like problem solving, critical thinking, and communication”. Swati (UK teacher Years 9 and 10)
The programme builds on the half-term programme for younger children (Year 6) in the UK that we ran in October 2023. Parents rated their children's experience in the programme 10 out of 10.
